The UNIVAC 1108/II was one of the most powerful computers in Illinois at the time of its installation, and it replaced the IBM 360/75 located in the Commons basement. Photograph of Henry R. Linden, who taught at Illinois Institute of Technology from 1954 until 2009. Linden received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Tech in 1952. Linden also served as president of the Institute of Gas Technology during his time on the Illinois Tech campus, organized the Gas Research Institute, and served as a federal energy consultant.
